Useful in flu treatment
A new instrument, Hemopurifier, is the first-in-class medical device able to selectively remove infectious viruses and immunosuppressive proteins from the bloodstream. The report does not document use with human patients but is a new research tool that may be useful in flu treatment methods in the future. In an average year, the flu leads to about 20,000 deaths nationwide and many more hospitalizations.
Just like it becomes harder for you to get your daily tasks done if you’re tired, if your body is overly fatigued it will be harder for it to fight the flu. Despite a few studies that suggest that large doses of vitamin C may reduce the duration of a cold, most of the scientific evidence finds no benefit.
Christmas movies “Silent Night, Deadly Night” article
“Silent Night, Deadly Night” is a 1984 slasher film produced by Ira R Barmak, directed by Charles E. Sellier Jr. and starring Robert Brian Wilson, Lilyan Chauvin, Gilmer McCormick, Toni Nero, Linnea Quigley, Britt Leach, and Leo Geter. “Silent Night, Deadly Night” is a movie opposed to the feel good factor you will find in most of the best Christmas movies.
After his parents are murdered, a young tormented teenager goes on a murderous rampage dressed as Santa, due to his stay at an orphanage where he was abused by the Mother Superior. Offended parents and others protested this slasher film when it was released in 1984 because it portrays Billy (Robert Brian Wilson) as a toy-store Santa Claus who goes on a rampage and axes people to death while still in his Santa garb.
Systemic lupus and kidney
As occurs in other autoimmune diseases, the immune system attacks the body’s cells and tissue, resulting in inflammation and tissue damage. In the United States, the annual incidence of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) averages 5.1 per 100,000 per year. Both discoid and systemic lupus are more common in women than men (about eight times more common). Signs and symptoms of kidney problems may include generalized itching, chest pain, nausea, vomiting and leg swelling (edema).
Pregnancy does not appear to worsen the long-term outcome of patients with lupus. Scientists suspect that neonatal lupus is caused in part by autoantibodies in the mother’s blood called anti-Ro (SSA) and anti-La (SSB). Many risk factors attribute to the development of lupus. Some people will have only a few symptoms, others may have them all.
Repeated signs of concussion
Concussions are a common injury seen in athletes who compete in contact and/or collision sports. The signs of concussion are not always well recognized and because of that, teens may put themselves at risk for another injury. The league has maintained, despite widespread criticism, that it was safe to allow players to return to the field as soon as their symptoms were gone — even in the same game in which the injury occurred.
Repeated concussions or a severe concussion may require surgery or lead to long-lasting problems with movement, learning, or speaking. Concussions happen when the soft tissues of the brain are forced against the bone of the skull. Sometimes the severity of the damage is not known immediately.
Early signs of menopause
For most women, natural menopause occurs between the ages of 45 and 55, with the average age of onset being 51.4 years of age. In rare instances, menopause can occur as early as the 30′s or as late as the 60′s. Even though you are still menstruating, you may begin to experience the signs of menopause. This natural menopause process itself is usually identified retrospectively, when it’s been a year since a last period.
The term menopause is sometimes used to refer to the entire process leading up to the end of fertility, but this is actually incorrect. Most clinicians will say a woman is postmenopausal once she hasn’t had a period for a year. Many women start to notice symptoms they suspect could be indicative of menopause well before actual menopause.
